João Teves is a town in the central part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. It is situated 19 km northwest of the capital Praia. It is the seat of São Lourenço dos Órgãos municipality.
Ribeira Seca, the island's second longest stream flows through town, some 3 km east downstream is Cape Verde's first dam, the Barragem de Poilão which was first built in 2006.
