Sandy Montero Alcántara (born September 7, 1995) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Alcántara signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in July 2013.[1] He made his professional debut in 2014 with the Dominican Summer League Cardinals. He spent 2015 with the Gulf Coast Cardinals and started 2016 with the Peoria Chiefs.[2] During a start in May he tied the Chiefs record with 14 strikeouts.[3][4] He was promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals during the 2016 season. He finished the 2016 season with a 5-11 record with a 3.96 ERA.[5]

Eliézer Álvarez (born October 15, 1994) is a Dominican professional baseball infielder in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Álvarez signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in July 2011. He struggled in his first two seasons, batting only .205 in 2012 and .20 in 2013. He blossomed in the 2014 season with the GCL Cardinals, where he batted .353 with a 1.046 OPS. Álvarez spent 2015 with the Johnson City Cardinals, where he posted a .314 batting average. In 2016, Álvarez played his first full season of baseball, as he was promoted to the Peoria Chiefs, where he batted .323 with 6 home runs and 59 RBI's, along with 39 stolen bases.[6] The Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.[7]

Dylan Carlson is an American baseball outfielder.[8][9][10][11] He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft.
He rescinded his college commitment to California State University-Fullerton, and agreed on June 14, 2016, to a signing bonus of $1.35 mil., which is $550,500 under the slot value for the 33rd draft pick in the compensatory A round.[12] He spent 2016 with the GCL Cardinals where he batted .251 with 3 home runs and 22 RBI's.[13]

Paul Sterling DeJong (born August 2, 1993) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
DeJong attended Illinois State University where he played college baseball for the Redbirds. After his sophomore year in 2014, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft. He did not sign with the Pirates and returned to Illinois State.[14][15] He was then drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB Draft.[16]
DeJong signed with the Cardinals and made his professional debut with the Johnson City Cardinals. After 10 games he was promoted to the Peoria Chiefs.[17] In 2016, he was selected as a Texas League All-Star while playing for the Springfield Cardinals.[18] He finished the 2016 season batting .260 with 22 home runs and 73 RBI's.[19] After the season, the Cardinals assigned DeJong to the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League (AFL). [20]

Bryce Robert Denton (born August 1, 1997) is an American baseball third baseman currently in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He is currently with the Johnson City Cardinals.
He was born in Brentwood, Tennessee and attended Ravenwood High School.[21] Denton was drafted in the 2nd round by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft,[22] signed with them, and was assigned to the GCL Cardinals.
Denton spent the 2015 season with GCL where he struggled, only batting .194. Denton spent the 2016 season with the Johnson City Cardinals,[23] where he improved, finishing the season with a .282 batting average, 4 home runs and 26 RBI's.[24]

Christopher John Ellis (born September 22, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Ellis was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 50th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama.[25] He did not sign with the Dodgers and attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) to play college baseball.
Ellis was then drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the third round of the 2014 MLB Draft.[26][27] He signed and made his professional debut with the Orem Owlz.[28] Ellis started 2015 with the Class A – Advanced Inland Empire 66ers and was later promoted to the Double-A Arkansas Travelers.[29][30]
On November 12, 2015, the Angels traded Ellis, Sean Newcomb, Erick Aybar and cash to the Atlanta Braves for Andrelton Simmons and Jose Briceno.[31][32] Ellis was assigned to the Double A Mississippi Braves to start the 2016 season, and promoted to Gwinnett in June.[33][34] Ellis ended 2016 with a 12-9 record and a 4.49 ERA.[35] After the 2016 season, the Braves assigned Ellis to the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League.
On December 1, 2016, the Braves traded Ellis, John Gant, and Luke Dykstra to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jaime García.[36]

Fernández signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in July 2014.[37] He made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Cardinals. He spent 2015 with the Gulf Coast Cardinals and also appeared in two games with the Palm Beach Cardinals.[38] Fernández started 2016 with the Peoria Chiefs,[39][40] and ended with the Palm Beach Cardinals. He finished the 2016 season with an 8-7 record and a 4.06 ERA.[41]

García made his professional debut in 2009 with the Gulf Coast Cardinals. Juan Pablo González (born April 5, 1990) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
González played in the Colorado Rockies organization from 2007 to 2013. Prior to 2014 he signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2015 he began the season with the Tulsa Drillers and was later promoted to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers. He was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game.[44][45] Between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, he appeared in 31 games with a 2.18 ERA.[46] Prior to the 2016 season he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Memphis Redbirds where he posted a 3-1 record with a 5.48 ERA.[47]

Andrew John Morales (born January 16, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Morales played college baseball at Rio Hondo College from 2011 to 2012 before transferring to UC Irvine and playing there from 2013 to 2014.[48][49] In 2014 he was named an All-American and won the Senior CLASS Award for baseball.[50] During his college career he went 42–3 with a 2.00 earned run average (ERA) and 361 strikeouts.
Morales was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.[51] He signed with the Cardinals and made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Cardinals.[52] He was later promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals. Morales started 2015 with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals.

Sierra signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2012. He made his professional debut in 2013 with the Dominican Summer League Cardinals. In 2014 he played for the Gulf Coast Cardinals. He was named the Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year after hitting .386 with two home runs and a .939 OPS.[53][54] Prior to the 2016 season, Baseball America ranked him as the sixth-best prospect in the Cardinals' system.[55] He spent the 2016 season with the Peoria Chiefs where he hit .307 with 3 home runs and 60 RBI's. He also tallied 31 stolen bases.[56] The Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster after the season to protect him from being chosen in the Rule 5 Draft.[7]

He played for the Gulf Coast Cardinals and State College Spikes in 2014 and the Johnson City Cardinals.[58] In 2016, Sosa played for the Panama national baseball team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifiers. Valera signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in May 2010.[60] He made his professional debut with the Venezuelan Summer League Cardinals. He started 2014 with the Palm Beach Cardinals and was promoted to the Double-A Springfield Cardinals during the season.[61] Valera began 2016 with the Springfield Cardinals and was then promoted to the Memphis Redbirds, where he batted a combined .304 between both teams.[62]
The Cardinals added Valera to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.[63]

Rowan D. Wick (born November 9, 1992) is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Wick attended Carson Graham Secondary School in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He did not sign with the Brewers and attended St. John's University to play college baseball. After one year at St. John's, Wick transferred to Cypress College. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.[64]
Wick signed with the Cardinals and started his professional career as a catcher. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Cardinals and played 2013 with the Johnson City Cardinals. In 2014, he switched to the outfield, where played for the State College Spikes and Peoria Chiefs.[65][66] Wick started 2015 with the Palm Beach Cardinals. After a slow start with the bat, he was transitioned into a pitcher and finished the season with the Gulf Coast Cardinals.[67][68] In 2016, his first full season as a pitcher, he played for both Palm Beach and the Springfield Cardinals, where he posted a 2.44 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.[69] After the season, the Cardinals assigned Wick to the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League and added him to their 40-man roster.[7]

Jacob Clinton Wilson (born November 14, 1990) is an American professional baseball second baseman and third baseman in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Wilson played college baseball at the University of Memphis for the Tigers from 2009 to 2012. As a senior he was the Conference USA Player of the Year after hitting .320 with 17 home runs and a 1.009 OPS.[70][71]
Wilson was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 10th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.[72] He signed with the Cardinals and made his professional debut with the Batavia Muckdogs. In 2013, he played for the Peoria Chiefs and Palm Beach Cardinals.[73] He started 2014 with Springfield and was then promoted to the Double-A Springfield Cardinals.[74] His season came to an end after 66 games due to a knee injury.[75] During the 2016 season, he split time between the Memphis Redbirds and the Springfield Cardinals. He finished the 2016 season batting .223 with 14 home runs.[76]

Wisdom played college baseball at Saint Mary's College of California. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.[77] He made his professional debut with the Batavia Muckdogs. In 2013, Wisdom played with the Peoria Chiefs and Palm Beach Cardinals. He played 2014 with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals and returned there in 2015.[78][79] He spent the 2016 season with the Memphis Redbirds where he batted .239 with 5 home runs and 33 RBI's.[80]

He finished his first professional season with a 1-0 record and a 2.39 ERA. He spent the 2016 season with the Peoria Chiefs where he posted a 5-5 record with a 3.31 ERA, with 82 strikeouts in 108.2 innings pitched.[83]
Woodford was high school teammates with Kyle Tucker who was also selected in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft.[84][85]

Justin Wayne Wright (born August 18, 1989) is an American baseball relief pitcher currently in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He is currently with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds. He is 5' 9" tall, considered short for a professional pitcher.[86][87]
He was born in Fairfax, Virginia and attended Forest Park High School before going to Virginia Tech, where he played from 2008 to 2010. He posted a won-loss record of 19-7 while there. In the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, the Cardinals drafted Wright in the 47th round. He began his professional career that year.
He did not allow a run and struck out 10 batters in 7.2 innings with the Batavia Muckdogs in 2010 and in 2011, he was 5-1 with five saves and a 1.03 ERA in 32 appearances between three teams. In 52.1 innings, he allowed 27 hits and had 70 strikeouts and earned Mid-Season All-Star honors and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star selection. He played for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League that year, as well. In 2012, Wright was 0-3 with a 4.45 ERA in 50 games, though he averaged 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings. In 2013, he was 1-1 with a 5.34 mark in 50 games, but averaged 9.8 Ks per nine innings. He had his first taste of Triple-A in 2014, going 4-0 with a 6.65 ERA in 16 games for Memphis; he also played for the Springfield Cardinals that year and was 6-1 with a 3.43 ERA in 47 games as a whole. In 2015, he played for Springfield and Memphis and went 2-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 48 games. He also spent time between Memphis and Springfield during the 2016 season; he finished the season 0-5 with a 5.02 ERA.[88]
He also pitched in the Cape Cod League in 2009 (for the Harwich Mariners) and 2010 (Hyannis Harbor Hawks).
