Društvo Nogometna Šola Ajdovščina, commonly referred to as DNŠ Ajdovščina or simply Ajdovščina, is a Slovenian football club, which plays in the town of Ajdovščina. The club was established in 2011.[2][1] They are currently playing in the Slovenian Third League.

History

The club was founded in 2011[2] after the dissolvement of NK Primorje, a club which folded couple of months earlier, due to a high financial debt, and after failing to obtain competition licences issued by the Football Association of Slovenia.[4] Legally, the two clubs' track records and honours are kept separate by the Football Association of Slovenia.[1] They merged their first team with ŠD Škou before the beginning of the 2012–13 season.[5] ŠD Škou gained a promotion to the third level after finishing as the runners-up in the 2012–13 Littoral League.[6] Even though DNŠ Ajdovščina never had a first team before (they competed only with youth selections), the Football Association of Slovenia officially registered DNŠ Ajdovščina to compete in the 2013–14 Third League.[7]

Stadium

The team play their home matches at Ajdovščina City Stadium, a 1,705 capacity stadium in Ajdovščina. The stadium was renovated during the 2009–10 season, and was reopened in September 2010.[8]
