Bachelor Express Incorporated is a bus line under the umbrella of Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC). It operates bus transport services in the eastern and central part of Mindanao, with bases in Butuan City and Davao City.
History
In 1981, Ricardo B. Yanson and his wife, Olivia Villaflores Yanson, the founders of Vallacar Transit, ventured into Mindanao. They bought out Fortune Express and Bachelor Express, both Cagayan de Oro-based bus companies in 1985, and merged them into Bachelor Express Incorporated, using the same name as one of the conditions of the contract of sale.
In July 2013, the conglomerate bought out CCJRC Liner, a bus line mainly serving Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
In December 2014, they bought out Weena Express, a bus line serving Cotabato City. This development has allowed the conglomerate to serve the Central Mindanao area.[3][4]
Brands
Yanson Group has a practice to their bus branding such as "Express" and "Tours" to differentiate their ordinary and air-conditioned buses. Similarly, there are two brands under Bachelor Express Inc., Bachelor Express is a bus brand for their ordinary fare buses while Bachelor Tours is a bus brand for their air-conditioned buses. Their brandings are labeled at the side liveries and at the back of their bus units.
Bases
Their subsidiaries are sub-divided by bases. These are based on their area of their operation, and their base number shall be the prefix number for their bus fleets. Yanson Group started this practice in 2005 after they bought out Lilian Express Inc., and felt that re-organizing their company is needed.
There are two bases under Bachelor Express Inc:
Prefix | Base | Address |
---|---|---|
3 | Butuan | J.C. Aquino Avenue, Bayanihan, Butuan City |
4 | Davao | Bugac, Ma-a, Davao City |
Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc. was once a part of Bachelor Express and was assigned as Base 15. But upon their launch, Yanson Group separated them from Bachelor Express and established Mindanao Star as their separate subsidiary.[5] Their headquarters were placed at the former Weena Express' garage (a bus company that Yanson Group bought earlier), located a few meters away from Bachelor Express' base at Davao City.
