The 2016–17 Campeonato Nacional season is the 86th season of top-flight football in Chile. Universidad Católica is the defending champion.

Format changes

Same as last season: Apertura and Clausura format, without playoffs.[1]

Runners-up playoff

The runners-up playoff will be played between the 2016 Clausura runner-up (Colo-Colo) and the 2016 Apertura runner-up (TBD). The winner will qualify for the Chile 4 berth in the 2017 Copa Libertadores, while the loser will qualify for the Chile 1 berth in the 2017 Copa Sudamericana.
