The 2005 Skate Canada International was held from October 27 to 30 at the Mile One Stadium in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was one of six events in the 2005–06 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, an international series of senior-level invitational competitions. Medals were awarded in four disciplines – men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing. Skaters also earned points towards qualifying for the Grand Prix Final.
The compulsory dance was the Yankee Polka.

Jeffrey Buttle's pants split during his long program; it posed no danger so he continued skating with no pause.[1]
