Henri Coiffier de Ruzé, marquis de Cinq-Mars, personal favourite of the king of France, and Gaston, Duke of Orléans are plotting against Cardinal Richelieu, prime minister of France. ^{[1] [2]}

• 9 September: Catalan Revolt: Perpignan conquered after a siege that took ten months.^[3]

Deaths

• 12 August: Cinq-Mars is executed for High treason after having failed convincing Louis XIII of getting rid of Richelieu. ^[4]
• 4 December: Cardinal Richelieu dies. ^[5]
