Ziaul Haque Zia (11 March 1953 – 4 November 2016) was a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He was elected MP from Lakshmipur-1 and re-elected twice. He served as a state minister for the local government, rural development and co-operatives during 2001–06.[1]
Career
Zia started working in Rupali Bank. He joined Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 1986.[1] In 2008, the special court convicted Zia of amassing wealth illegally and concealing information from the Anti-Corruption Commission.[2][3] In 2009, a High Court bench granted bails to eight convicts including Zia.[4]
Personal life
Zia was married to Nasima Haque, with whom he had two sons, Mashfiqul Haque Joy and Kamrul.[5]
Death
Zia died on 4 November 2016 under treatment for cancer at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.[1]
