Yovie Widianto (born January 21, 1968) is an Indonesian musician, composer, arranger and songwriter.[1] Widianto is a pianist member and also forming the love-themed group music Kahitna and Yovie & the Nuno (currently Yovie & Nuno). In addition as musician, Widianto also successful for written several song about to love for other musician, such as Ruth Sahanaya, Rossa, Astrid, Audy, Glenn Fredly, Pinkan Mambo, Chrisye and many other.

Early life

Yovie Widianto was born on January 21, 1968, on Bandung, West Java. Widianto already familiar for various genre of music and musical instrument. Initially, his mother has banning to his professional as musician. In age of 5, Widianto began playing for jazz music. His uncle Hasbullah Ridwan, a father of composer and senior musician Elfa Secioria, introducing he to jazz music. Since in junior high, Widianto had routine to playing the band at the Savoy Homann Bidakara Hotel in Bandung.

In 1986, Widianto began his career to joining Festival Band Tingkat Nasional in Balai Sidang Jakarta (now Jakarta Convention Center). After that, Widianto had first introducing for pop music through David Foster' 1986 self-titled album, which his music has simple melody and several different basic tone, and began glance in pop music industry with the works of pop, such as Quincy Jones. Still same of year, Widianto had forming the pop music group of love-themed Kahitna. In addition, Widianto has earning several national and international achievement, including winning award for The Best Composer at 1986 Young Star International Festival in Taipei, Taiwan.

Career

Since with Kahitna, Widianto has released ten studio albums during his career. As solo artist, Widianto began releasing his work album, titled Kumpulan Karya Terbaik Yovie Widianto in 2000. After five years later in 2005, Widianto had releasing second work album, A Portrait of Love. In album, Widianto also arrangement for all the songs with Stephan Santoso and Tohpati. Still same of year, Widianto appointed as judge in Indonesian Idol of season 2 who replacing to director Dimas Djayaningrat.[2] A year earlier, Widianto has ever held a small concert for the achievement of his music career during 21 years in Jakarta. In 2006, Widianto held a special concert for his journey career in music industry during 23 years, titled A Mild Live The Magical Journey Of Yovie Widianto and took place in Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center on September 14.

After that, Widianto return to launching his 2007 work album Kemenangan Hati and his three single also listed its which sung by Widianto in concert. In 2013, Widianto releasing his compilation album Yovie and His Friends: Irreplaceable with two version: #takkanterganti and #mantanterindah.

In 2016, Widianto awarded Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication for promoting and developing the music industry by the Chief of the Creative Economy Agency Triawan Munaf at 2016 Indonesian Choice Awards.
