The Yesterday Once More Tour is the first Australian national tour by Australia's 2016 Eurovision Song Contest representative, and pop star, Dami Im. (Korean: 임다미, born 17 October 1988). As a Korean-Australian singer and songwriter, Dami was born in South Korea, and emigrated to Australia with her family at the age of nine. Im won the fifth season of The X Factor Australia and subsequently received a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.
Announcement
The Tour was announced on 3 April 2016 and was carried by news and social media.[1][2] The announcement of the Tour coincided with the announcement of the release of her cover album of the Carpenters aptly named Classic Carpenters on 22 April 2016. Classic Carpenters debuted at number three in the Australian ARIA Album Charts and #1 on the Australian Album Chart and #1 on the Physical Chart.[3] When it was first announced, the Tour was scheduled for 36 shows that traverse the whole of Australia, including many regional locations.[4] Subsequently, due to the successful reception of the Tour, with many locations being sold out, some way ahead of schedule, two additional dates were added. Subsequently, on 13 September 2016, the "Yesterday Once More Encore Tour" was announced with additional dates and venues lined up between January and May 2017.[5]
Description
As Im described it, the Tour was designed to be an intimate show that showcases the cover songs from her Classic Carpenter album, as well as her own hit singles, including her rousing Eurovision 2016 ballad, Sound of Silence. The set also includes several songs from her X Factor experience. As a treat to her fans, Im also included a number of surprise tunes.
