Production

Background

WrestleMania is considered WWE's flagship event,[1] having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.[2]

Storylines

The professional wrestling matches at WrestleMania 33 will feature professional wrestlers performing as characters in scripted events pre-determined by the hosting promotion, WWE on the Raw and SmackDown brands. Storylines between the characters played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown Live.[3][4]

On the July 27, 2009 episode of Raw, Shaquille O'Neal confronted Chris Jericho and Big Show, which led to O'Neal attacking Big Show.[5] Years later, O'Neal was a surprise entrant in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32.[6] He and Big Show went after each other, however, the rest of the wrestlers eliminated both of them.[7] At the 2016 ESPY Awards on the red carpet, Big Show and O'Neal had another brief confrontation. A match was proposed, which O'Neal accepted.[8]
