The Windtech Pulsar is a Spanish single-place paraglider that was designed and produced by Windtech Parapentes of Gijón. It is now out of production.[1]
Design and development
The aircraft was designed as a sports intermediate glider, to replace the Windtech Serak in the company line. The models are each named for their approximate wing area in square metres.[1]
The design was optimized for strength, using V-ribs to reduce the line count for lower drag and higher speed.[2]
The glider wing is made from Porcher Marine Skytex 45 g/m2 nylon fabric. The rib reinforcements are 180 g/m2 Dacron, with the trailing edge reinforcement fabricated of 175 g/m2 polyester. The lines are all sheathed Kevlar and 1.1 and 1.7 mm in diameter. The risers are made from 20 mm wide Polyamida strapping.[3]
Variants
- Pulsar 23
- Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 11.12 m (36.5 ft) span wing has a wing area of 24.10 m2 (259.4 sq ft), 52 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.13:1. The take-off weight range is 60 to 80 kg (132 to 176 lb). The glider model is AFNOR Standard certified.[1][3]
- Pulsar 25
- Mid-sized model for medium-weight pilots. Its 11.52 m (37.8 ft) span wing has a wing area of 25.85 m2 (278.2 sq ft), 52 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.13:1. The take-off weight range is 70 to 90 kg (154 to 198 lb). The glider model is Deutscher Hängegleiterverband e.V. (DHV) 1-2 certified.[1][3]
- Pulsar 27
- Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 11.9 m (39.0 ft) span wing has a wing area of 27.6 m2 (297 sq ft), 52 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.13:1. The take-off weight range is 85 to 105 kg (187 to 231 lb). The glider model is DHV 1-2 certified.[1][3]
- Pulsar 30
- Extra large-sized model for much heavier pilots. Its 12.44 m (40.8 ft) span wing has a wing area of 30.15 m2 (324.5 sq ft), 52 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.13:1. The take-off weight range is 100 to 125 kg (220 to 276 lb). The glider model is DHV 1-2 certified.[1][3]
