William Bowman (director)
William J. Bowman (February 27, 1884 - January 1, 1960) was an early American film actor and director, most noted for the 1921 film The Avenging Arrow
Biography
Bowman was born in Bakersville, North Carolina. His movie career began in 1911 with roles in short versions of The Old Curiosity Shop (1911) and Silas Marner (1911). The following year, he played Shylock in a short film of The Merchant of Venice (1912). He began directing in 1915, helming thirteen films between then and 1921.
He died in San Diego County, California.
