Wellington Heritage Multiple Unit Preservation Trust

The Wellington Heritage Multiple Unit Preservation Trust was formed to preserved D 2130, DM 556 and D 2411 or otherwise known as the "Cyclops" EMU set. The trust is based at Maymorn near the Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust. The set was purchased in January 2013[1] and arrived at their base on 21 April the same year.

D 2130 English Electric 1599 1949 21 April 2013 Pre-TMS: D 113. Entered NZR service in November 1949 for the Wellington commuter trains. During this time it was joined with motor car DM 556 and trailer D 2411. In 2006 it was overhauled and repainted in the NZR Midland Red livery and named the "Cyclops" and returned to service on 4 April the same year. It was placed into storage at Hutt Workshops as a spare trailer. Withdrawn, 19 March 2012. Purchased by the WHMUPT in January 2013 and arrived on the 21 April that year.
D 2411 English Electric 1624 1950 21 April 2013 Pre-TMS: D 138. Entered NZR service in December 1950 for the Wellington commuter trains. During this time it was joined with motor car DM 556 and trailer D 2411. In 2006 it was overhauled and repainted in the NZR Midland Red livery and named the "Cyclops" and returned to service on 4 April the same year. Withdrawn, 19 March 2012. Purchased by the WHMUPT in January 2013 and arrived on the 21 April that year. In 2014 it was repaired and now is currently used as a carriage with RIRHT's TR 189 on their open days.
DM 556 English Electric 1593 1953 21 April 2013 Pre-TMS: DM 48. Entered NZR service in March 1954 for the Wellington commuter trains. During this time it was joined with motor car DM 556 and trailer D 2411. In 2006 it was overhauled and repainted in the NZR Midland Red livery and named the "Cyclops" and returned to service on 4 April the same year. Withdrawn, 19 March 2012. Purchased by the WHMUPT in January 2013 and arrived on the 21 April that year.
