In 1997, with two fields of Food Engineering and Social Sciences Research, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) launched its Neyshabur branch campus at the present site of Neyshabur Art Faculty which was subsequently conceived as a FUM affiliate Faculty of Art in 1999. The Faculty of Art, then, officially was authorized to admit students and confer degrees in Painting, Graphic Design and Sculpture in 2003 as a new addition.
In 2006, following the final agreement of Higher Education Office, the Faculty was elevated to Neyshabur Higher Education Complex by adjoining the already existing fields and three other in Physics, English Literature and Archaeology.
Shortly after, in 2009, Higher Education Office announced its approval on the definitive disjointure of Neyshabur Higher Education Complex from FUM. In the following year, the foundation stone was laid through perseverance, organized planning and well- managed steps taken by the respective Chancellor of the Complex and his appointed administrators; accordingly, Neyshabur Higher Education Complex was legally and officially recognized as Neyshabur University. At the present time, Neyshabur University is up and running with around 1296 (BA. BSc.) students in three faculties of Art, Literature & Humanities and Sciences and 8 fields of study in Painting, Graphic Design; Persian Language & Literature; English language & Literature ; Archaeology; physics and Mathematics and also 120 MSc. students in 5 fields of study; Nuclear Physicsو Solid Physics, Pure Mathematics, Archaeology and Art Research. Faculties of Engineering and Agricultural Engineering are also planned to be launched and the fields of Statistics and Electrical Engineering are to admit students in the following academic year.[1][2]
Library
The University of Neyshabur (NU) campus equipped with professional facilities that include a Library with a collection of more than 7540 books, 52 journals, 123 theses and some electronic resources. It is a one-stop center for students. The library is located on the first floor of block B. at the Art Department campus. It occupies an area of 300 sq. /m and has a seating capacity of 50. |
Computer site
The university contains a computer site for learning and research. Students from various faculties are groomed to use a large assortment of software for their studies or assignments, regardless of the field of work. It also has the possibility of holding internet-based or computer-based classes. |
Laboratory
The Language Laboratory located in the Faculties of Humanities, provides students with a capacity of 25 cabins. At this Multimedia Lab a full range of language development materials is available for student practice and they are strongly encouraged to use these materials to develop their language skills. Students may use audio-visual materials to practice listening skills, enrich vocabulary, or improve their reading rate. The Language Laboratory also offers computer-assisted instruction, which gives students and instructors the opportunity to work with the internet communications network, and language skill development programs. In addition to being a component of regular course work, the Language Laboratory is designed to help students develop their skills at their own pace and in areas of personal interest. The previously prepared files are available for students’ personal use during the course. |
Art Gallery
The Art Gallery located on the first floor of block A at the Art Department Campus. The Art Gallery holds the final designs produced by the Dep. of Art students. Inside, a colorful mixture of creativity and energy circulates every visitor who sets foot in the gallery. The gallery showcases every aspect of the students’ works for the learning reference of their peers. In general, the gallery will keep changing every semester to make way for new works and to provide fresh, emerging ideas. |
A rt studios
The university includes well-equipped studios such as: Painting & Design Studio, Color Studio, Graphics Studio, Sculpture Studio and Color Photography Studio. There is probably no other art and design university college in the eastern of Iran with such well-equipped studios as NU which guided by eminent professors and teachers. The studios allow crafts to be produced in many different materials and allow students to use experimental and sometimes high-tech methods. |
Public & International Relations Office
Recognizing the importance of scientific, research and technological co-operations between universities and research centers for active engagement of academic members, experts and researchers in the domain of science and technology and in order to expand the academic relationships, the Neyshabur University will follow and support these aims in recent future:
- Promoting cultural and scientific activities.
- will facilitate the exchange of academic members for training, conducting research projects and exchange of ideas.
- will provide opportunities for academic members to participate in conferences, symposia and regional and international meetings.
- will collaborate in holding scientific conferences, research, educational and technological workshops, joint scientific, research and technological exhibitions and conducting joint research projects.
- will exchange students in long term or short term programs in the area of interest with regulations of countries.
- will exchange information, books, academic publications, scientific and research documents, students’ thesis, micro films and computer soft wares in the educational, research and technological areas.
- will emphasize on direct collaboration among universities, higher education, research institutes and scientific and technological centers in the areas of mutual interest.
- Holding Persian Language Courses for foreign applicants in intensive periods.
- Holding cooperation with International Associations such as:
International Association of Universities (IAU)
Federation of the University of the Islamic World (FUIW)
and also other related associations.[3]
