Toate pînzele sus

Toate pînzele sus is a TV series of the Televiziunii Naționale Române (TVR), a film adaptation of the novel with the same name, Toate pînzele sus!, written by Radu Tudoran.[1]

Directed between 1976 and 1978, the movie is presenting the adventures which became legendary of two friends, the Romanian Anton Lupan and the French Pierre Vaillant. Anton Lupan is leaving searching for the schooner L'Esperance, his and his friends's ship, without knowing that it was attacked by pirates. But, especially he is searchig for Pierre,so they could leave together to an unknown land, where those who had tried to penetrate had died or they returned, after terrible trials, without succeeding in exploring it. The ship was found, but about his friend no one knows anything no longer. Anton Lupan is forced to leave alone to the journey over the Atlantic, with the Land of Fire. The crew has many adventures, facing Moorish pirates and, trying to escape the cook from trouble, who gets into trouble by making reckless bets in Latin American ports. The men are courageous, true penny, and so they manage to overcome all the trials and follow on their captain with confidence in searching for his missing friend.

The real schooner Speranța

The series movie's scenario which screened the novel Toate pînzele sus! (1954) of Radu Tudoran, it was written by Alexandru Struțeanu and Mircea Mureșan. The movie was filmed in the Film Production Center studios in Bucharest; the producers benefited the support of the party and state organs from Constața and Tulcea counties, of Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Tourism. Shooting took place in the years 1975–1976.

The movie was directed by Mircea Mureșan, helped by the second Assistants Directors Mariana Petculescu și Nicolae Corjos.
