Thomas "Tommy" Armitt (birth registered April→June 1904[1] — July→September 1965 (aged 70)[2]) birth registered in Salford, Lancashire, was an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s and 1940s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Swinton, and Hull, as a Hooker, i.e. number 9, during the era of contested scrums, his death was registered in Manchester district.
International honours
Tommy Armitt won caps for England while at Swinton in 1935 against France and Wales, in 1936 against Wales (2 matches) and France, in 1937 against France, in 1938 against Wales (2 matches) and France, and in 1939 against Wales,[3] and won caps for Great Britain while at Swinton in 1933 against Australia, in 1936 against Australia (2 matches), and New Zealand (2 matches), and in 1937 against Australia (3 matches).[4]

Thomas Armitt's marriage to Elizabeth (née Allen) was registered during October→December 1923 in Salford district,[5] they had children, Thomas Armitt (junior) (birth registered during July→September 1924 in Salford district), and the rugby league footballer, Charles Armitt.
