Thanha Rathi Ranga (තණ්හා රතී රඟා - Between Yesterday and Tomorrow) is a Sri Lankan dramatic film directed by Nilendra Deshapriya, in his directorial debut.[1] It was written by Sarath Kothalawala and Kumara Thirimadura and features Sarath Kothalawala, Kumara Thirimadura, Swarna Mallawarachchi, Anoja Weerasinghe, Neeta Fernando and Kamal Addarachchi.
The film won the Best Film at 4th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2014, was nominated for the NETPAC Award at Bengaluru International Film Festival 2014, was an official selection at the International Film Festival of Kerala and an official selection at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival. The film was also selected for the 17th Shanghai film festival in China and as an official entry to Julien Dubuque International Film Festival in the United States.[1]
Plot
This story revolves around three friends, Sirithunga (Sarath Kothalawala) a handyman and father of three young children, Wimal (Kumara Thirimadura) a three-wheeler driver, and Suraj (Namal Jayasinghe) an overly sensitive university student. The three friends decide following the end of the Sri Lankan Civil War to take a road trip, to areas where the final battles were fought. They each dream of a better life, a future with freedom, love and money.
