St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary School is a private school located in East Northport, New York. It is a member of the Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School Congregation Association.[1]
History
Back in the 1960s the congregation of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of East Northport, wanted to further the work of its Lutheran mission through the children in the Northport community. In 1970, they opened the grammar school. Since then, they have been offering a Christian education on Long Island in the East Northport, Northport, Huntington, Greenlawn and Smithtown areas to students of all denominations starting with its Nursery classes through the Fifth grade.
Charities
The children of St. Paul's are taught the importance of academics as well as helping those in the community. The school has the children involved in preparing and sending food to the local food pantry and homeless shelter. They are also involved in helping keep our environment "green" by collecting bottles, cans and toner cartridges. They also have a coin jar that gets filled throughout the year and then they will then vote on what to do with the money. Last year they bought farm animals for poor families in Africa.
Special Classes
St. Paul's Lutheran School of East Northport, Long Island offers traditional classes as well as additional ones known as "specials" that exceed the traditional elementary school curriculum. These special classes are Computer, Art, Music, and Spanish. These classes help nurture and educate the students to excel in life experiences.
Aftercare
Another feature of St. Paul's School in East Northport is their aftercare program. Known as ATB, After The Bell offers the parents of St. Paul's the opportunity to keep their children at the school, in a loving, nurturing and supportive environment. ATB starts immediately after school and ends at 6:00pm. This program is especially helpful to working parents. The staff keeps the children busy with homework assistance, games, and other interactive socially stimulating activities. "Before the Bell" is also offered for families that need to drop their children off earlier in the morning.
