Break Sokos Hotel Eden is located in the Hietasaari district, 4.5 km (3 mi) away from Oulu centre in the Nallikari camping-area. This Finland subtropical sea spa was constructed in 1989 by the designer Paavo Karjalainen.[1]
The spa was originally known as The Eden Nallikari Sea Spa. Subsequent names have included "Spa Hotel Eden", "Oulu Eden Spa Hotel", "Holiday Club Oulu Eden", and "Sokos Hotel Eden". The hotel is currently named Break Sokos Hotel Eden.
Services
Accommodations include 170 rooms, the majority with a view of the Baltic Sea. There are 100 standard rooms, 67 superior rooms and three suites.
The "Big Pool" is indoor, and kept at 30°C (86F). Typically this pool generates waves once every hour.
The Spa's second indoor pool is for kids, and maintains an average temperature of 32°C (90F).
Three indoor Jacuzzis are kept at 32°C.
The sauna section of the spa consists of three separate rooms. These include two Turkish Bath steam rooms, a Roman-Irish communal sauna, two Finnish Saunas, and a peat sauna or steam room available for group bookings.
The outdoor pool is kept at 15°C (59F)
'Wellness services: The wellness centre at Eden offers multiple treatments such as massages, baths, and hairdresser/beautician services.
Three restaurants are available.
In 2013 EasyFit opened its doors in Eden.
History
In 1987 the spa was .[2] In 1988 construction began,[3] lasting until the opening on August 18, 1989.[4]
In 1993 Eden welcomed its millionth customer.[5] In 1998 a fire in the hotel's lobby bar destroyed the restaurant.[6]
In 2002 a new wing containing 69 new rooms was added.
In 2006, Eden was bought by Sokotel[7] from Holiday Club.[8][9]
