Sir William Ashburnham, 2nd Baronet
Sir William Ashburnham, 2nd Baronet (1 April 1678 – 7 November 1755)[1] was a British politician.
He was the older son of Sir Denny Ashburnham, 1st Baronet and Anne Watkins, daughter of Sir David Watkins.[2] In 1697, he succeeded his father as baronet.[3] Ashburnham was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Hastings in the Parliament of Great Britain from 1710 until 1713 and again from 1722 until 1741.[4] Between 1715 and 1717, he sat also for Seaford.[5] Ashburnham was a Commissioner of the Alienation Office[3] and furthermore a Chamberlain of the Exchequer from 1710 until 1755.[6]
On 7 June 1701, Ashburnham married Margaret Pelham, daughter of Sir Nicholas Pelham.[3] Their marriage was childless and Ashburnham was succeeded in the baronetcy by his younger brother Charles.[7] He was buried at Guestling in Sussex.[2]
