Simeon Van Akin

Simeon Van Akin (October 14, 1842 – after 1906) was a State Senator from Michigan.

He was born in Hudson, Michigan to parents who were among the pioneers of Michigan, having settled in the Tiffin River Valley before Michigan became a state.[1] At the age of nineteen, he enlisted in the Union Army during the American Civil War, serving as a sharpshooter.[1] After the war, he moved to Ida Township, engaging in farming,[1] and was a member of the Michigan State Senate from the Fifth District from 1903 to 1906.[2] He also held the offices of Township Clerk, Justice of the Peace, and member of the Board of Supervisors.[1]
