Seycove Secondary School is a Canadian high school in the Deep Cove neighbourhood of the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Located just east of Dollarton Highway, the school has a student population of approximately 650 students in grades 8 through 12.

Athletics

Seycove's ski and snowboard team has won the district championship for two consecutive years. Seycove's cross country team has won the AA division banner the last three years running, with many athletes qualifying for the provincials. The school's rugby team has had two consecutive championship seasons as well, winning the Tier Two "New Zealand Shield" in the 2006 season and defending it in 2007. The Senior Boys soccer team won the provincials in 2006.The Senior Girls soccer team won the provincials in 2012. The gymnastics team is also well-recognized. Seycove's rowing team has come in first place in the district for many years in a row, most recently during the 2009 season. The 2009 Sr. Boys Soccer team placed third in the AA Provincials. The 2010 Senior Boys AA and Junior Boys basketball teams are highly ranked within their leagues this year, both coming off successful preseason tournaments.

Music

Seycove's music program includes concert and jazz choirs, as well as an internationally acclaimed chamber choir. The choir is an auditioned student choral group. They have received numerous accolades in the past, winning "Best Youth Choir of the World" in the international Kathaumixw festival in Powell River, in July 2006. In May 2007, the chamber choir travelled to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphony. The school also presents a musical production outside of its regular music program every other year involving Broadway musical selections. In February 2011, the Seycove Women's and Chorale choir again returned to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Theatre

Seycove Secondary has a theatre program and its own distinctive black box theatre, nicknamed "The Vortex." There are two special events that occur in alternating years: the One Act Play Festival, which consists of one-act plays written and directed by students in the senior (grade 11 and 12) acting program, and the Spring Play, which is open to all members of the Drama department. Past productions include Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie; Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam; and William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. For the 2008 spring season, the Senior Acting Troupe put on a production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Other programs

The school offers several courses in visual arts, including Art Foundations, Portfolio, Photography, Film and Television, and Desktop Publishing. Other electives include Outdoor Education, Foods, Textiles, Drama, English Literature, Dynamics, Psychology, Law, History, and First Nations studies.

Robotics, engineering and technology

Seycove's technology department competes yearly in the Skills Canada Robotics challenge as well as alternative energy challenges and supermileage races. Students design and build a wide variety of projects such as off-road vehicles, solar powered vehicles, and hovercraft. A number of students from this engineering program have gone on to schools such as University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, University of Waterloo, McGill University, British Columbia Institute of Technology, and Capilano University's engineering transfer program. Seycove also offers courses in computer programming, woodwork, construction, and drafting and design.

The closest public transit routes are TransLink Buses #211, #212 and #C15 serviced one block west on Deep Cove Rd.
