Udoka Chigozie Oku (born July 29, 1991 in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria), popularly known by his stage name Selebobo or Bobo of Africa, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and creative producer.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and beginnings

Born Udoka Chigozie Oku in Enugu State, Nigeria, Selebobo is a descent of Anambra State born into a Christian, musical & artistic family in the early nineties. He is the seventh of twelve children Selebobo hails from Ukpo, Oranto Village, Dunukofia L.G.A. of Anambra State. His talent was nurtured by his father, Mr. Goddy Oku, a known guitarist and musician of the 70's. He started ‘recording’ at the age of 7 in his dad's studio and by the time he was 12, he had started producing with his little keyboard.[5] He is the younger brother of Film DIrector Okechukwu Oku.[5]

Career

Although Selebobo counts his career from the re-release of the song, Yoyo,[6] he has done songs like “Lose Control”, “Odeshi” featuring Flavour, “No Letting Go” featuring Uganda’s Keko (rapper), “Kulenje” featuring Stormrex prior to joing TripleMG.[7] He signed with TripleMG in 2014.[7] Since then he has released singles like "Selfie" and "Tonyor" featuring Mr P of P-Square. He also has notable production credits to his name like Johnny (Yemi Alade song),"Nagode" and "Tangerine" by Yemi Alade, "Ada Ada", "Mmege by Flavour N'abania, "Mr Oreo" by Iyanya, "Where" by Tekno, "Iyeri by Bracket.[8]
