SS-GB is an upcoming UK dystopian alternate history television series produced by BBC Films and Sid Gentle Films. The series is based on the 1976 novel of the same name by British author Len Deighton. The story is an alternate history of the world in which the Axis powers won the Battle of Britain. The King is a prisoner and Winston Churchill has been shot. The story follows a police detective, Douglas Archer, who in following up a routine murder case uncovers a web of intrigue involving British atomic weapons research secrets, which the Abwehr is keen to get its hands on.

Pre-production

In November 2014 it was announced that the BBC has commissioned writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to adapt Len Deighton’s novel SS-GB.[1]

In August, it was announced that Philipp Kadelbach was on board to direct,[2] and Sam Riley was in talks to star the lead role of Detective Superintendent Douglas Archer of Scotland Yard. Riley's casting was confirmed in late September 2015.[3]

Production

Production began in October, 2015. Filming took place in Highgate Cemetery, with actors dressed in German Army, SS and Russian military uniforms.[4] Blythe House was used as the location for Scotland Yard.
