Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bakar Arang (SMK Bakar Arang) is a public Malay secondary school located in Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia established in 2003.

In 2014, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bakar Arang contains 897 male students and 687 female student, in total as 1584 students. There are 111 teachers teaching in the school.

Meaning of SEMEKAR

SEMEKAR stands for Setia (Loyal), Efisien (Efficient), Maju (Progressive), Cemerlang (Excellent), Kreatif (Creative), Amanah, (Trust) and Rajin (Hardworking).

Yearbook

SEMEKAR is the name of the yearbook for SMKBA starting from 2005.

The yearbook contains the information of SMKBA, activities, classes and creation made by the students.

Classes

For the lower secondary classes (Form 1 to Form 3), the class is specified by grades from Setia to Rajin. Three additional classes added which is Tekun (Perserving), Usaha (Effort) and Jaya (Victorious) with a total of 10 classes.

For the upper secondary classes (Form 4 and Form 5), students can pick their study region like Science and Math, Marketing etc. Starting from ST1, ST2, LK, PA ^{Form 4}, STK ^{Form 5}, SSU, PD1, PD2, MPV, PSV1 and PSV2 with a total of 10 classes.

Co-curriculum

SMK Bakar Arang has 9 uniformed bodies, 6 sports clubs and 14 clubs or society.

Every Monday, every students should stay in the school to participate the meeting of their sports club and club or society from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Every Wednesday, every students was required to wear first uniform of their uniformed bodies. Then the students should stay in the school for the uniformed bodies' meeting from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

If there is any special circumstances, the meeting of the clubs will be canceled.
