Roy Brown (businessman)
Roy Drysdale Brown FIMechE FIET (born 4 December 1946) was the Chairman of the international engineering conglomerate GKN from 2004 until 2012.
Early life
He attended the independent Tonbridge School. On a GEC scholarship he went to UCL in London, where he gained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering.[1]
Career
He worked for Unilever from 1974 to 2001. He became Chairman of Thus plc.
GKN
He became Chairman of GKN on 20 May 2004.[2] He was replaced as Chairman of GKN by Michael Turner on 3 May 2012.[3]
Personal life
He married Carol Wallace in 1978 and they have two sons. He became a Fellow of the IMechE in 1983, and a Fellow of the IEE (which became the IET) in 1990.
