Robert Rooba (born 2 September 1993) is an Estonian professional ice hockey left winger for JYP in the Finnish Liiga. He in an alternate captain for the Estonia men's national ice hockey team.[1]
Playing career
Rooba started playing ice hockey in his hometown Tallinn with HC Purikad youth team. In 2008, Rooba joined the Finnish club Blues. Rooba made his SM-liiga debut at the age of 18 with Blues during the 2011–12 season. In 2016, Blues went bankrupt and on 18 January 2016, Rooba signed for Mestis club Hermes for the remainder of the season.[2] On 27 April 2016, Rooba signed for JYP.[3]
Rooba's international career started at the under-20 level, where he played for Estonia during the 2009 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He made his international debut for the senior national team at the 2010 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships, winning the Division II - Group B tournament.
Personal life
Rooba's father, Jüri Rooba, was also an ice hockey player and is the current general manager of the national team.
