Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) is an Italian company, subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS). RFI is the owner of Italy's railway network, it provides signalling, maintenance and other services for the railway network. It also operates train ferries between the Italian Peninsula and Sicily.

RFI was founded on 1 July 2001 following the European directive on rail transport, imposing a separation between the owner and the user of the network. The Italian rail network used to be managed by Ferrovie dello Stato until 2001.[1]
