Ramkrishna Nagar (Bengali: রামকৃষ্ণনগর) is a small township situated around 47 km from Karimganj, India. The topography of the area comprises undulating hillocks. It is well connected by bus service from Karimganj and shared taxis run by private operators.
This town is under jurisdiction of Karimganj and having a sub divisional office. the population here is very less and the only institution for higher education is Ramkrishna Nagar college which started its journey since 1964.Now it render various courses both in science and humanities to the people of this locality.The college is having subsidized hostel facility for girls and bus facility for the students of this college. There is a small town under this called Kadamtala about 2 km from Ramkrishna Nagr. Access to this place is from Hilakandi, Silchar, and other places by bus route is available. This place is a more of country side of Assam where you can have all the experience of Village.
The Major part of the population over here is Bengali almost(95%). Most of the people live here are middle aged or senior citizens as the younger generations migrate to other places for study and job.
Agriculture is the main occupation of the people here and Rice is the main crop.
There is a small park, which is located on top of a hillock. This place offers natural view surrounding Ramkrishna Nagar. View of sun rise & sun set is very beautiful. There is a Kali Mandir(at R.K.Nagar), Laxmi Narayan Mandir (at Kadamtala), Hindu Milan Mandir of Bharat Sevasram Sangha,& SHIB BARI(SUBHASH PALLY) & which are very ancient.All Ramkrishnanagarian assembled at the time of Durga Puja and 56 Prahar Kirtan . The event 56 Prahar starts on 16 January(2nd Magh) and run up to 23 January(8th Magh) in every year. Ramkrishna Vidyapith, Ramkrishna Nagar, a higher secondary school established in 1947 is one of the pioneer institutions for secondary education, not only in Barak Valley but also in Assam. Around 1500 students are getting their school education from this school. There are a few schools including one exclusively for girls.There ia also a college named R.K.Nagar College which has both Science and Arts streams. Sonbill is the biggest fish bowl in Asia which is just 10 km. from Ramkrishna Nagar. There are three banks viz. UBI, Apex Bank and SBI. Only SBI & UBI has ATM facility.
Ramkrishna Nagar has a primary health centre (Under Govt of Assam,India)situated in hill,popularly known as Hospital Tilla for the local people. Ramkrishna Nagar is culturally very rich and it has good cultural background. People of Ramkrishna Nagar like Music,playing various instruments and has a strong folk culture also. Some of the popular clubs are Narendra Sangha,YMAC, Royal Bengal Club, Viking Club, Asiad Club, Pragati Sangha. These clubs often arranges socio cultural activity and sports event.
