Punchd was a mobile loyalty app for both Android and iOS.
The app was first built in 2009 by Reed Morse and Grantland Chew while at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.[1][2] Its original goal was to track historical purchases and help small business owners reward their return customers.
The app was turned into a company by Niket Desai, Xander Pollock and Reed Morse in 2010. The company joined 500 startups[3] and employed Matt Joanou, Kareem Nassar and Nat Welch.[4]
Google acquired the company in June 2011.[5][6] In order to simplify and improve the Google experience for business owners and their customers, the team decided to retire the product in June 2013.[7]
