Ptychadenidae is a family of frogs.[1][2] These frogs occur in Sub-Saharan Africa. The common name of the family is grassland frogs.[1]
Ptychadenidae was previously considered to be a tribe or subfamily in the Ranidae family, but its position as a family is now well established.[1][2][3]
Subfamilies and genera
There are three genera with in total 52[3] to 55 species:[1]
- Hildebrandtia Nieden, 1907 — 3 species
- Lanzarana Clarke, 1982 — 1 species
- Ptychadena Boulenger, 1917 — 51 species
