Platydoris angustipes is a species of sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, shell-less marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusks in the family Discodorididae.[1]

Distribution

The distribution of Platydoris angustipes includes the Central American mainland, also from Florida to Panama, and the Greater Antilles, the Cayman Islands, the Lesser Antilles, the Turks and Caicos, and Brazil.[2]

Description

The body is oval.[2] Mantle is rigid.[2] Dorsum is flattened, covered with caryophyllidia.[2] Background color ranges from reddish brown to red or orange with scattered white specks often clustered in 3–4 dense groups.[2] Mantle margin is often darker or lighter than the rest of the mantle with proportionally more white patches.[2] Rhinophores are dark brown with cylindrical apex.[2] Gill is translucent straw-colored often with numerous opaque white spots.[2] The maximum recorded body length is 150 mm.[3][2]

Ecology

The minimum recorded depth for this species is 0 m; the maximum recorded depth is 73 m.[3] It was found under rocks in Panama.[2] This species possibly has lecithotrophic development.[2]
