Paweł Wocial is a Polish installation and object artist, sculptor, designer and scenographer,
He graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts (ASP) in Poznań, Poland.
In his artworks (installations, objects, kinetic sculptures , photography, drawings) he concentrates on relations between form, structure, perception and consciousness. It refers to the concept of design thinking – human ability to create in mind different kinds of simulations resulting in relationships and perception of reality.
Career
His work Spirit of Ecstasy (natural size Rolls Royce with a Spirit of Ecstasy emblem on the bonnet, made of thousands of chip Chines toys) was realized with the support of Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk.[1]
Wocial's works were presented among others at Watou Art Festival / Kunstenfestival Watou (Belgium), Paris Fashion Week (France), ZOOM! Festival 2015, WUK Projektraum, Wien (Austria) and in the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie) in Karlsruhe (Germany).
His works exhibited in UK, Turkey, Austria, Netherlands, Ireland were accompanied by works of famous artists among others: Banksy, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Marina Abramović, Tracey Emin, Erwin Wurm, Li Hui or Franz Ackermann.[2]
In 2009 he moved to London, where he broadened the field of his activities with the art of design. Wocial began his cooperation with J Milo Taylor, Phd, who was interested particularly in sound being his main focus of research and creative actions, and with Austrian artists: Andreas Harrer and Leo Riegler.[3]
At the same time Wocial's installation Look at Me inspired Maciej Zień becoming the main motive in a fashion collection under this title.[4]
Wocial's works are in private collections in Austria, Germany, Poland and others.
He has been living and working in Warsaw since 2012.
