Paul Jennings (musician)

Paul Jennings (born 2 September 1981) is a British drummer and percussionist. Born in Hull, he moved to the Shetland Islands at the age of five.

History

Since 1998, Jennings has played with Scottish folk–world bands, including: Croft No. Five, Old Blind Dogs, Wolfstone, Treacherous Orchestra, and Fred Morrison. Jennings was also the percussionist for the show TAPEIRE, which featured the world's fastest tap dancer James Devine.^[1] Jennings toured the USA and Canada with the show in 2007, which included a three-week run on Broadway in New York City.

In 2005 he co-composed and performed a pioneering musical commission for the Celtic Connections festival, Europe's largest winter music festival, with fellow percussionist Fraser Stone. Their commission was performed at the festival in 2006 and 2007 and sold out both years running. In 2007 and 2008, Jennings was the percussionist with James Devine. Jennings performed a month run on Broadway in New York City with the show. In 2012, he performed with Red Hot Chilli Pipers in Germany, Switzerland, Holland, USA and Canada and also at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Bahrain and the 2012 Ryder Cup in Chicago.

Jennings has received reviews for his work from The New York Times, Washington Square News, Canada's Globe and Mail and Chronicle Herald, as well as the primetime television appearances on ABC's Live with Regis and Kelly, on CBC Canada and WNBC New York.
