Patan Multiple Campus (PMC) is a campus under Tribhuvan University. The campus is situated at Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur of Nepal. It runs different faculties and programmes under different levels and is a widely recognised institute of the Kathmandu Valley. It was formally established on 2 September 1954 under the ministry of education, HMG, Nepal. Initially it was known as Patan Inter College. In the beginning only 25 students took admission in the college. It was formally inaugurated on 16 September 1954. In the initial years, the college conducted classes only for arts subjects, but it introduced science classes since 1968. From its inception in 1954 till the last of June 1973, Patan campus operated under His Majesty Government of Nepal and its Ministry of Education. But with the introduction of New Education Plan on 25 July 1978, Patan Campus was brought under the umbrella of Nepal’s oldest University Tribhuvan University (organised 1956 & incorporated 1959). Since then it has remained as a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University and known as 'Patan Multiple Campus'. This campus conducts several programs such as general science, environment science, masters, different ARTS faculty and Bs.CSIT that stands for Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology affiliated to Tribhuvan University. There are two buildings in this campus,one is management block and another is science block.This course is of four 4 years including 8 semester. First batch of CSIT has passed out in 2013 AD.
Academic Programs
This campus is providing higher education in Arts, Management and Science under different institutes. The student enrollment in Master classes are also trained to conduct research activities. But there is unbearable heavy pressure of students for enrollment every year in almost all faculties. To absorb the enrollment pressure the campus altogether runs four shifts : three shifts in Arts, two shifts in science and the afternoon shifts in management stream and Master program in English . Students joining the campus are from almost all parts of the country. Presently more than five thousand students are studying in this campus from all discipline. The PMC is being run by 350 full time faculties (including contract) and about 150 part time teachers. The workload of the teachers is as per the regulation prescribed by T.U. There are about 125 administrative staffs to support the programms in the campus including the peons and guards. The PMC offers the following academic programs:
