The Orlando Deanery Boychoir is an internationally renowned choir based in Orlando, Florida. The choir is open to boys in grades 3-9.
The Orlando Deanery Boychoir is founded on European models and affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in England. This music outreach program of the Cathedral Church of Saint Luke[1] in downtown Orlando serves the community, nation and world.
Creating beautiful music of the highest standards, the choirs develop musicianship, vocal skills, teamwork, responsibility, leadership, courtesy, respect for other cultures, poise and professionalism. Performances include civic festivals, opera and symphony, charity concerts, private parties, weddings, religious services, conventions, TV commercials and Disney events, often with prominent local orchestras.
As cultural ambassadors of the United States and the City of Orlando, the choir has toured Japan, England, Ireland, Wales, Canada, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, New England, the Bahamas, Florida and the southeast, New Orleans, New York (Carnegie Hall), Vienna, Prague, Munich, and Salzburg. Tours are funded entirely by fundraising efforts and individual and corporate contributions. Tours play an integral part in our musical education, cultural enrichment, and outreach mission. Most recently, they performed in an Anglican Heritage Tour through England in 2012.[2]
In 2011, The Orlando Deanery BoyChoir and Girls Choir were issued a special invitation and performed in the East Wing of the White House in Washington D.C. for a 2-hour concert on December 20. In June 2014, they participated in the inaugural American Music Performance Nationals for Children’s & Youth Choirs in New York City at Carnegie Hall.[3] They also performed at Saint Thomas Church in Manhattan and St Paul's Chapel in Lower Manhattan[4]
The choir is under the direction of Benjamin Lane.
