Natalie Marie Ames (born 1 March 1989) is an English actress.

Early life

Natalie Marie Ames was born and raised in the North London suburb of Enfield. Ames took drama, dance and art classes from a young age. While painfully shy as a child, and once "too shy to audition for the lead roles in the school production of Bugsy Malone", she did school plays and pursued an acting career.[1]

She graduated from Chace Community School[2] and attained a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Communication at Southampton Institute.

Career

Ames went to the Drama Studio London, graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Acting.[3][4] She performed in London's Off West End theatre including the British play Eight at the Kings Head Theatre, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest, The House of Bernarda Alba at The Barons Court Theatre, The Two Gentlemen of Verona at Grange Park Theatre, and A Golden Age at The Royal Festival Hall.[5]

Ames also appeared in British films Meeting Place and The Seasoning House.[6]

In 2012, she began working Los Angeles, having once fallen in love with the city during a family trip.[7] She appeared in the Lionsgate film Criminal opposite Gary Oldman, Ryan Reynolds, Alice Eve, Gal Gadot, and Kevin Costner[8][9][10] and the indie comedy film Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant opposite Mark Feueurstein and Danny Pudi. She also appeared in the romantic comedy Playing It Cool,[11] the comedy series Time Lapsed which premiered on the viral platform Funny or Die,[12] Vice Versa, produced by Isaiah Washington,[13] and Le Fear II: Le Sequel by writer and director Jason Croot.[14]

She has appeared in series including Starving in Hollywood, Mistresses,[15] Himmler Entertainment, Perceptions, Sh!T Happens, and Who's in Charge.

In addition to acting, Ames is the executive of production company Seven Twenty Twelve Productions. She wrote Strangers on the Ledge and Before We Began,[16][17] after being inspired by meetings with prolific directors at Sundance Film Festival.[18]

Ames has been described as "Anna Wintour's assistant, mixed with Portia de Rossi in Ally McBeal with a sprinkling of India de Beaufort."[19]

She is a member of the organization Women in Film.[20]
