Motihari College of Engineering is a government-aided college, fully funded by the government of Bihar. It is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna. Previously the institute was known as Indian College of Engineering and established on 24 November 1980. In 1986 the college was taken over by Bihar government. In 1994 all the staff and students were transferred to other engineering colleges of Bihar & the institute was shuted down due to some political reasons. Later in November 2008 the Government reopend the institute & the name is Changed from Indian College of Engineering to Motihari College of Engineering.
Campus and location
Motihari College of Engineering has a permanent campus of 65 acres located at Bairiya Fursatpur, Motihari, East-Champaran district of Bihar state in India. It is situated in a peaceful environment. It is 4.5 km from nearest railway Station Bapudham Motihari & 5 km from district bus-stand situated at chhatauni. Regular auto and ricksaw are available from both places to the institute. It is approximately 2.5 km from NH28A.

Hostel facilities
Hostel buildings have been renovated and modernized to accommodate more than 600 students. There are three hostel in mce campus, two hostel for boys and one new hostel for girls. All modern facilities are available in hostels.
Library
The institute has a very well library with more than 15,000 books. All the books which a student needs in their B.Tech are available at the library in sufficient numbers.
Admissions
Undergraduate admissions are done through the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination(BCECE) conducting by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board,Under Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Act, 1995 of Bihar government. The Entrance examination is of two stages. First stage is the screening test or preliminary test. Screened candidates have to appear in the main Examination (second stage).Based on the Merit List in the 2nd stage, successful candidates allotted seats in different engineering colleges.
Curriculum
The B.Tech programs consists of eight semesters spread over four academic years. Motihari College of Engineeing is guided under the Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna.
