Then, he furthered his education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Permatang Bonglai before transferring to Sekolah Menengah Teknik Arau in Perlis.[2]

He switched to play with Perlis club side KSK Tambun Tulang in the 2009 FAM Cup league, and also represented Perlis in Piala Emas Raja-Raja 2009.[2] He moved to play with Perlis in early 2010. Faiz subsequently signed one-year contract with T-Team in 2012 season.[2]
In 2013, Faiz left T-Team and signed a contract with Malaysia Super League top club, Kelantan along with his former teammate Zairo Anuar Zalani, where he score one goal against a Vietnamese football club, SHB Đà Nẵng F.C. in the AFC Cup group stage match.[2] A year later he joined Terengganu FA, and in 2015 he changed clubs again as he dropped a division to join Penang FA along with his Terengganu teammate Mazlizam Mohamad.[3] With Penang, he helped them to second place in the 2015 Malaysia Premier League and promotion to 2016 Malaysia Super League.
During a league match against Pahang F.C. in February 2016, he scored an incredible freekick which subsequently went viral on social media for its 'physics-defying flight'.[4][5] The freekick he scored was nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award on 21 November by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).[6] The nomination was later accepted by FIFA, and by 2 December, he together with Brazilian and Venezuelan footballers of Marlone and Daniuska Rodríguez were maintained until the Top 3 shortlist,[7] surpassing professional stars like Lionel Messi and Neymar on the Top 10 nomination for the 2016 edition.[8]
