Mizo Phyll was born on the 18th October 1986 in Shayandima, Venda in Limpopo. The humble soul Mizo started listen to Hip Hop at a very tender age during the west coast and east coast era and he has been rapping ever since. He got his influence from musicians such Nas, Tupac, Colbert Mukwevho, Jay-Z, Mase, Bob Marley.
The name Mizo Phyll was inspired by chlorophyll which is a substance found in trees and plants to give them their green colour. His professional career started in 2007 with Madhouse Entertainment Owned by Tshilidzi Ramulondi also from Venda, where he did his hit album Mapungubwe which was recorded in Bloemfontein at FFLR studios, it features the hit song "Vimba" which still receives popular airplay. Also on the album is Tshikandeledzi, which got a Satma nomination for best hip hop in 2009.
In 2012, Mizo Phyll won a TSHIMA Award (presented by SABC) for best Tshivenḓa Hip Hop.[1] and in 2015, Mizo won Best Hip Hop award at FAME Awards.[2]
