Malick's performance was named as the second best parody of Sarah Palin after Tina Fey by The Huffington Post and The Ex Comedy. Other notable parodies included Sara Benincasa, Liz Cackowski, and Gina Gershon.[5][6] The sketch parodied a behind the scenes look at how Governor Palin broke the news to her husband and kids about being Senator John McCain's running mate for the 2008 election. The supporting cast featured Dave Nivison, Shane Dawson, Candice Cooper, Morgan Mitchell, and Lia Marie Johnson.[7] Malick also starred as Sarah Palin in the popular sketch series "Bibleside Chat with Sarah Palin".[8]
In 2009, Malick wrote, directed, produced and starred in the multi-award winning film "Tales of the Catholic Church of Elvis!", a screen adaptation of her highly successful and award winning stage play of the same name.[9][10][11] The film won "Best of Fest Feature" at Detroit Windsor International Film Festival, "Best Micro-Budget Feature" at Cannes Independent Film Festival, "Best Nevada Feature" at Nevada Film Festival, "Audience Award" at Newport International Film Festival, "Best Lead Actress" (Mercy Malick) at Hoboken International Film Festival, Best Supporting Actor at Newport International Film Festival, "Spirit of Costume" at Big Muddy Film Festival. In 2010, she starred as the series lead for the TV series "Trenches", for which she was supported by a "talented ensemble cast".[13][14] In 2014, she starred alongside Lizzy Caplan, Diana Bang, Aubrey K. Miller, and Justin Lee in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's The Interview.[15]
In 2015, Malick garnered rave reviews for her performance in the cult hit movie "Circle", in which she starred alongside Carter Jenkins, Julie Benz, Allegra Masters, Michael Nardelli, Autumn Federici, Lawrence Kao, Kevin Sheridan and Cesar Garcia, and was recognized as an "exceptional standout" amongst a "shockingly good ensemble cast".[16][17][18] She also appeared in stand-out guest roles on numerous television series, including The CW's "iZombie",[19] Rob Schneider's "Real Rob", Amazon Studios' "Hand of God", and ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars."[20]

Malick has been praised as "an incredible vocalist and a talent to be reckoned with", for having an "incredible and hypnotic voice", and as "one of the most distinctive voices ever heard".[21][22]
Her debut album "Just Be" featured tracks Parowan, Cold as Me, I'll Hang The Moon, Oceans of Sky, Just Be, No Fear, Birthday, Coming Home, Make Me Feel, All Over Me, and Corridor 9.[23] She has also contributed tracks to a Norah Jones compilation and toured internationally with Hilary Duff.[9]
