Mathew P. John was a Biblical Scholar and President[5] of the Society for Biblical Studies in India.
From 1947 to 1971 he was Lecturer of New Testament[1] at Serampore College, Serampore,.[6] where he once studied.[6] He later undertook doctoral studies in Chicago in New Testament between 1960 and 1963[6] and returned to Serampore to take up his teaching assignments. However, it was not until 1969[6] that he could complete his doctoral studies. M. P.
