Marie Ueda (植田 真梨恵, Ueda Marie, born September 22, 1990) is a Japanese singer and songwriter under Giza Studio label.
Before debut
In ages 5–6, Marie dreamed to become a singer one day. During elementary school times she took parts in various auditions for singing contests[2]
In 2003, as 13 year old, she sung in music festival Jaccom song "Morai Naki" and she received a won price[3]
When she became a junior high school student, her voice was wanted by another Fukuoka talent agency, however she didn't want to become a talent, Marie always stated that she just want to make music. Then she was introduced in Giza studio audience and in 3rd year of junior high school achieved victory.[4]
In spring of 2006 after graduating from junior high school, Marie went to live alone in Ohsaka (in place where Giza talent agency is held) she started the music activities such as live performances and songwriting. In spring 2007, her live performances caught the attention of a staff of the record company. Marie enters into a full-fledged music production activities.[5]
Singer debut
- In July 2008, she made a debut with first mini indie album Taikutsu na Coppelia
- In 2012, she released first studio album Sentimental rhythm
- On 16 August 2014, through the indies activities for 7 years she made major debut with first single Kare ni Mamotte Hoshii 10 no koto [6]
- On 31 December 2014, Marie has made TV appearance in COUNTDOWN JAPAN 14/15
- On 25 February 2015, 1st major album "Hanashi wa Sore kara da" was released [7]
- On 1 February 2016, Marie's 4th single "Spectacle" was first single which reached into Oricon top 20 rankings [8]
So far Marie has released 6 singles and 2 studio albums[9]
