Marduke
Marduke is a character in Marianne Curley's Guardians of Time Trilogy.
Character history
Marduke was Shaun's partner in the guard, but when one of their missions, to the Ardennes region of France, meant that they had to save a beautiful woman from the Order, while she saves her family from the plague, and then leave her to die, they fell out. Initially Shaun was the one to step out of line, he considered saving the girl, but decided against it in the end. Marduke, obsessed with beauty, couldn't overcome his feelings and injected her with antibiotics meant for him. Following this Shaun and Marduke fought in medieval France. Eventually Shaun became the victor, cutting off half of Marduke's face. After this Marduke left the Guard, in favour of the Order. His wife and child were taken away to be protected from him, and he vowed to return them to him. His first plan of revenge was to kill the beautiful young Sera, the daughter of Shaun, as revenge for the taking away of his own daughter Neriah. He fell in Love with Lathenia; she was his soulmate, and saved him from the Middle realm, but not before he was mutated into a beast. He helped kidnap Arkarian and torture him in the Underworld. He took his final revenge by killing Rochelle with Ethan's bow, before dying when the sun sets and turning into stone.
