Malcolm Chamberlain

Malcolm was ordained in 1996 and served his curacy at St John's, Pleck and Bescot in Walsall in the Diocese of Lichfield, an urban parish with significant deprivation. He moved to Liverpool in 1999 to be Associate Anglican Chaplain to the University of Liverpool and also curate of St Matthew and St James, Mossley Hill, a large suburban church where he led the planting of a new missional student congregation. In 2002, Malcolm was appointed Anglican Chaplain to the University of Liverpool (half time) and also the Liverpool Diocesan Emerging Church Consultant working as part of the Church Growth and Ecumenism Team, during which time he was involved in planting 'Dream'. In 2008 he was appointed as Priest in Charge (and subsequently Rector) of St Mary's Wavertree, another urban parish in an area of multiple deprivation, and also carried Deanery responsibility for Pioneer Ministry and Fresh Expressions of Church. He also became Area Dean of Toxteth & Wavertree in 2012.

Malcolm was collated as the Archdeacon of Sheffield & Rotherham on 19 January 2014 in Sheffield Cathedral, and is a member of the Bishop of Sheffield's Staff Team.^[1]

Malcolm holds a degree in Economics and Education from York University, a B Th in Theology and Ministry from the University of Oxford and an M Phil in Pastoral Theology (researching the emerging church) from Liverpool Hope University. He trained for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and has a long term interest and connection with the Church in Pakistan having served with the Church Mission Society in Peshawar. He was also a tutor of Mission in Britain Today and Pioneer Ministry for All Saints Centre for Mission & Ministry.
