Luke Sela

Luke Sela (b. ? - June 6, 2007) was a journalist and newspaper editor from Papua New Guinea. He served as editor of the Papua New Guinea Post-Courier newspaper, one of PNG's largest publications and was a champion of the free press in the country.

Sela worked as in the Papua information services in the 1960s and 1970s. He joined the staff of the Post-Courier in 1976 and was named editor in 1978.^[1] Sela went on to serve as editor for the next 24 years. He retired from the paper in 2000.^[1] However, he continued to work with the paper after his retirement. Sela was preparing to help coordinate the Post-Courier's coverage of the upcoming 2007 elections in PNG's island regions when he died.^[1]

Sela, 64, died on June 6, 2007 after being admitted to Lorengau General Hospital in his home province of Manus.^[1] He had been suffering from a long illness for several months.

Sela was married to wife, Nia. The couple had two children, Annette and Robert.^[1]
