The West Wing is an American political drama television series that aired on NBC from September 22, 1999 to May 14, 2006, broadcasting 156 episodes over seven seasons. Created by Aaron Sorkin and produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television, the show follows the lives of White House staffers, including the President. The show starred an ensemble cast who portrayed various staff members of the federal government.
The West Wing received 370 award nominations, winning 118 awards. This includes 95 Primetime Emmy Awards (with 26 wins), 20 Golden Globe Awards (2 wins), 20 Screen Actors Guild Awards (7 wins), 12 Television Critics Association Awards (5 wins), 12 Writers Guild of America Awards (2 wins) and 8 Directors Guild of America Awards (2 wins).
In addition to the cast winning the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and the Satellite Award for Outstanding Television Ensemble, several cast and crew members received awards and nominations for their individual work, including Martin Sheen (35 nominations), Allison Janney (27 nominations), Bradley Whitford (12 nominations), Stockard Channing (12 nominations), John Spencer (13 nominations), and Alan Alda (6 nominations).

ALMA Awards
Jimmy Smits won an ALMA award for his performance on the series.
The American Latino Media Arts Award, commonly known as the ALMA Award, is an annual accolade bestowed by the National Council of La Raza recognizing American Latino contributions to television, film and music.[6] Martin Sheen received three nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Television Series, winning once. Jimmy Smits also won the award in 2006 while the series won for Outstanding Television Series.
American Film Institute Awards
Established in 2000, the American Film Institute Awards (AFI) is presented by American Film Institute and honors the best ten outstanding films and television programs of each year.[11] The West Wing won two awards for Television Program of the Year.
American Society of Cinematographers Awards
Presented since 1986 by the American Society of Cinematographers, The American Society of Cinematographers Awards is an annual accolade that honors work in theatrical features, television projects and student films, and cinematographers and other filmmakers for their career achievements.[15] During its tenure, The West Wing won two out of its six nominations, all awarded to Thomas Del Ruth.
Artios Awards
Presented by the Casting Society of America, the Artios Award is an annual accolades honoring outstanding achievements in casting.[17] The West Wing received four nominations during its tenure, winning two awards.

Cinema Audio Society Awards
The Cinema Audio Society Awards, commonly abbreviated as CAS Awards, was created in 1964 and honors outstanding achievement in sound mixing.[27] The West Wing received four award nominations, winning two awards.
Directors Guild of America Awards
Paris Barclay was nominated three times for his directorial work on the series.
Presented by the Directors Guild of America since 1938, The Directors Guild of America Award honors excellence in the field of direction.[32] The West Wing received eight nominations for the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Drama Series, winning twice.
Emmy Awards
The Primetime Emmy Award is an annual accolade presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for outstanding achievement in American prime time television programming.[38] The award recognizes outstanding achievement in television aspects such as acting, writing, and direction. During its tenure, The West Wing received 95 nominations, winning 26 of them.[39] The series won the award for Outstanding Drama Series four times between 2000 and 2003, tying with Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law and Mad Men for the most wins in that category. Allison Janney won the most individual Emmy awards among the cast, winning two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and two for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category, the series won three consecutive times from 2000 to 2002, with Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford and John Spencer receiving the award during the respective years. The show won a fourth time in 2006, with Alan Alda receiving the award.
The more technical aspects such as cinematography and casting are awarded at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The West Wing won 12 Creative Arts Emmy awards, including three for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series and three for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

Mary-Louise Parker was nominated for an Emmy award in 2003 for her performance on the series.
Matthew Perry was twice nominated for his guest performance on the series.

Presented since 1949, the Golden Globe Award is an annual accolade awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for outstanding achievements in film and television.[114] The West Wing received 20 nominations during its tenure, winning two awards for Best Actor – Television Series Drama, awarded to Martin Sheen, and Best Television Series – Drama.
Golden Reel Awards
Founded in 1953, the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) is an honorary society of motion picture sound editors. Since 1989, they present the Golden Reel Awards, in which honors the best work in the various areas of sound editing.[120] The West Wing received five award nominations during its tenure.
Humanitas Prize
Awarded since 1974, the Humanitas Prize is an annual accolade that recognizes outstanding achievement of writers in film and television whose work promotes human dignity, meaning and freedom.[126] The West Wing received five award nominations, winning three awards.
Imagen Foundation Awards
The Imagen Award, also known as the Latino Golden Globes, is an annual accolade presented by the Imagen Foundation since 1985 that awards positive portrayals of Latinos in television, film, and the web.[131] The West Wing won four awards out of five nominations.
NAACP Image Awards
The NAACP Image Award was established in 1967 and is an accolade presented by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to honor outstanding people of color in film, television, music, and literature.[135] The West Wing has received six nominations, with Dulé Hill receiving four nominations.
Online Film & Television Association Awards
The Online_Film_&_Television_Association_Award is an annual award presented by the Online Film & Television Association for outstanding achievement in film and television. Receiving 93 nominations during its tenure, The West Wing won 31 awards.
Peabody Awards
Awarded since 1940, the Peabody Award, named after American banker and philanthropist George Peabody, is an annual award the recognizes excellence in storytelling across mediums including television, radio, television networks, and online videos. The West Wing won the award for the year of 1999, with the award committee lauding it for "showing that audiences can be edified, as well as entertained, by the inner workings of a modern-day presidency." The series won again for the year of 2000, highlighting the cast and select episodes as evidence of an "an intricate and noble series."
Producers Guild of America Awards
The Producers Guild of America Awards was established in 1990 by the Producers Guild of America, in order to honor the visionaries who produce and execute motion picture and television product.[151] The West Wing received eight award nominations, winning two awards for Best Episodic Drama, the award for Most Promising Producer in Television and the Vision Award for Television.
Satellite Awards
The Satellite Award is an annual accolade bestowed by the International Press Academy since 1997 in recognition of outstanding achievements in film, television and new media.[157] During its tenure, The West Wing received ten award nominations, winning five.
Screen Actors Guild Awards
Lily Tomlin was nominated for an individual SAG award her role on the series.
