List of Delta Force members
The following is a list of notable Delta Force members:
- Major General Eldon Bargewell: Commander of Delta Force from 1996–1998.[1]
- Colonel Charles Beckwith: Founder and inaugural commander of Delta Force.[2]
- Lieutenant General William G. Boykin: Commander of Delta Force from 1992 to 1994. Commanding Officer of Delta Force at the Battle of Mogadishu.[3]
- Master Sergeant Gary Gordon: Medal of Honor, Killed in action on October 3, 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu.[4]
- Command Sergeant Major Eric L. Haney: Wrote the book Inside Delta Force, upon which the television series The Unit is based.[5][6]
- General (Lieutenant Colonel at the time) Peter Schoomaker: Commander of Delta Force from 1989 to 1992 and later commander of JSOC, USASOC and SOCOM.[7]
- Sergeant First Class Randy Shughart: Medal of Honor, Killed in action on October 3, 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu.[8]
- Colonel Lee Van Arsdale: Delta Force Colonel during Battle of Mogadishu
- General Austin S. Miller commanded the delta force during the Iraq War and is the current commander of the Joint Special Operations Command.
