Lalitha was a South Indian actress and danseuse. She was the eldest of the "Travancore Sisters" - Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini.[2] She started her acting career in the 1938 Tamil film Adithan Kanavu[3] and has acted in movies of different Indian languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.[4][5] She entered films before her sisters, concentrating more on Malayalam films, and was good in Vampish roles.

Personal life

She was born to Gopala Pilla and Saraswathiyamma on 16 December 1930 at Thiruvananthapuram.[6] She is the aunt of actress Shobana Chandrakumar.[7] Malayalam actress Ambika Sukumaran is her relative. Actress Sukumari was the trio's maternal first cousin. Malayalam actor Krishna is her grand son.[8]
